Symmetrics Wellness Movement Center was formed in 2007 with the intention of designing programs to ignite a proactive approach to health. This concept was adopted by Maria Kishfy, a Health/Physical Educator with over three decades of fitness experience. Maria understands that it can be difficult to commit to a more active lifestyle. She combats this issue by first taking a personal interest in each person so she can break down any inhibitions, and then supports a transformation both physically and mentally. This method has proven to be the most efficient approach for furnishing an active lifestyle that will last a lifetime.
Maria’s passion is to infuse positive energy in all of her interactions. Her latest position as a Fitness Director at an independent & assisted living community has allowed her to create programs to assist residents in regaining a sense of autonomy. She also developed a wellness program for elementary school-aged children coined Camp Trophies. This program focuses on the approach of learning by doing. In addition, Symmetrics Wellness Movement Center partnered up with the Arthritis Foundation to provide a fitness program specifically designed to help arthritis sufferers.
Some of Maria’s accolades include:
- A featured spot on a local television station for creating an innovative workout called “Stepping Out Latino Style“
- Guest author for the Presidents Challenge e-newsletter
- Contributed to a local newspaper for demonstrating various yoga poses and their health benefits.
- Presented a FitYoga Workout at the Rhode Island Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance conference
